What to expect
Bogensee is a fascinating place. Despite its historical significance over the course of the 20th century from fascism to socialism, its historical sites seem completely forgotten. Along the well-preserved Goebbels-Villa and the gigantic former university for the socialist elite, nature has reconquered the whole terrain. Our guide will not only tell you about the history of the place but also about how it was instrumentalized in a recent attempt of a right-wing organization to overthrow the German government.
Right next to the historical sites, beautiful lake Bogensee invites you for a picnic or – if you are very brave – for a cool dip in the exceptionally clean water. After making our way back through the deep, mostly untouched forest, a local lake restaurant gives us the opportunity to buy cold drinks and fresh fish & chips.
